At the time, I turned the other cheek, partially because I was the bigger person but also in fear of being in danger if I stood up for myself. I went home in tears, sat down, and started typing. This is arguably one of the most empowering pieces I have ever written and I hope it can shed some light on the injustice and inequality the black community faces to this day.
