Anise wore all black: a black thin tank top that accentuated her curves, black leggings, four-inch heeled black boots, and her favorite pair of leather fingerless gloves. A gold cross glimmered at the place where her collarbones met, further accented by the tiny gold hoops in her ears and a gold nose ring to boot.\nKy dropped the glass into a waste basket near the line leading to what he assumed were the restrooms. “They were passing them out at the door, would’ve been rude to decline.” \nAnise hummed in amused confirmation while scanning the room with her eyes. The area was as backwater as Florida got - almost none of the patrons looked older than eighteen - not that her or Ky could gripe on  such an issue with both of them being freshly seventeen years of age. But they weren’t here to enjoy the festivities tonight.\n“Taste anything off in your drink?” She wondered, leaning in close to speak into her comrade’s ear.\nKy revealed a test tube from the inner pocket of his blazer. He’d deposited the sip of vodka he’d taken into the container before disposing of it. “Traces of Valerian root and benzodiazepine.”\nAnise nodded. So they had come to the right place after all.\n“This way,” she shouted over the music and tugged at the sleeve of Ky’s blazer to avoid losing him in the crowd. \nIt was cold to the touch. \nIf someone were to look closely enough at their clothing, they would find that within the polymers of the fabric, a metal-like material was weaved throughout - strong enough to stop any man made blade or bullet.\nNeon lights exploded overhead, bathing the two of them in wreaths of yellow, pastel pink, and electric purple. The beat of the dubstep music intensified, shook the floors and walls that were made of smooth stone and tingled up through the soles of Anise’s boots and settled at the tip of her tongue and fingertips. \nThis particular venue had been home to an abandoned phosphate mine, repurposed and furnished to become something almost otherworldly. \nThe phosphate walls and floors had been mixed with harder minerals, iron, and outlined with cement to provide support for the infrastructure. The club was located underground, the entrance had been more similar to a mine shaft than anything else, but… the way the lights ricocheted and shone through the minerals like stalagmite was entrancing. The architecture and engineering were impeccable, a sure sign that Immortal Beings had funded the project.\nSome Demons developed a fascination with the natural aspects of Earth Realm, mixed it with their own magical compounds for alchemic magic. Anise was sure that whatever was holding this club upright, what caused the teenagers to dance with those vapid, pleasure-drunk expressions on their faces was a result of such tinkering. The magic was in the stones, the floors, the walls, the ceilings.\nShe gripped Ky’s sleeve harder and pushed her way through to the back of the club. The bodies parted around them like water, unaware of their presence due to the cross dangling at Anise’s throat being enchanted with sigils of invisibility, concealment, and quietude. Her gentle shoves and the whisper of her and Ky weaving through dancing bodies was similar to shadows slithering around patches of light shining through the holes of a grate to the humans around them.\nAnise found the door she was looking for swiftly, careful to slip inside before being noticed by the security detail who might see through the sigils of her necklace.\n“I hope your Keeper tonics stave off alchemic magic,” she noted. The music was a bit muffled here with the walls being made of something thicker, darker, and colder than whatever minerals had been tweezed and shaved down to create the visuals in the front end. The magic here tasted different on Anise’s tongue - heavy and metallic.\nKy removed his black blazer from his shoulders to reveal an inscribed crossbow at his back, and a pouch of crossbolts dangling from his weapon’s belt. “Keeper tonics nullify the effects of most Immortal magic entirely. If we were to run into a succubus right now, I would be immune to her wills entirely,” Ky said proudly.\n“I suppose, but if she were a matured Succubus, she wouldn’t need to use magic to captivate your little Keeper,” Anise chuckled darkly as she did inventory of her own arsenal. A medium length katana, a vial of holy water, and two sheathed knives strapped to the inner lining of her tank top.
