"description": "Got inspired to write this poem by the animation “Grave of the Fireflies.” I watched it over a year ago but it still sticks with me, especially in a world that is constantly at war. Even though fireflies are actually in the movie, I think they also represent how the two children are like bugs, helpless and forgotten, and subject to horrors much larger than themselves. Anyway, if you haven’t seen it, give it a watch. Just be prepared to cry. ",

But fiction and poetry have always been very important to me as a reader and writer, and I have also published two books of poetry, several short story collections and most recently my first novel, Hire Lernin’: An Idealist’s Quest Through the Realm of for-Profit Education, which is a lightly fictionalized version of my first posting out of law school as dean of a for-profit school of business in the late 1980s knowing nothing about the industry.",
