"description": "This project of rewriting classic fairy tales to have more positive messaging stems from a few key motivations:\n\n1. Many original versions of fairy tales reflect outdated or harmful attitudes around gender, power dynamics, violence, and more. While we can still find metaphorical value in these stories, it's important the messages and life lessons passed on to children evolve with society. Rewriting fairy tales allows us to celebrate their magic and imagination while filtering out damaging undertones.\n\n2. Fairy tales shape how children see the world and their place in it. Providing protagonists who overcome adversity through positive qualities like courage, empathy and wisdom can model virtues for kids to aspire to. Rewritten fairy tales allow stories to reinforce ethical, compassionate behavior.\n\n3. Children deserve stories that speak to them in healthy ways. Many old fairy tales center on passive heroines dependent on external rescue rather than empowered protagonists taking charge of their destinies. Updating fairy tales to highlight strong, capable lead characters allows for more inspiring role models. \n\n4. Fairy tales should inspire children's imaginations without normalizing violence or cruelty. Much can be accomplished in stories through cleverness, determination and heart rather than grisly ends for villains. Rewriting fairy tales reframes conflict resolution through peaceful, compassionate means.\n\n5. Nuance and empathy can be taught even in fantasy settings. Rather than good/evil binaries, reworked fairy tales can model forgiveness, redemption, understanding different perspectives. Kids can learn that solutions lie in building common ground.\n\nIn summary, updating fairy tales allows us to consciously shape these iconic stories to pass on values of equality, diversity, non-violence, courage, and hope rather than outdated norms. This empowers fairy tales to inspire positive growth and ethics in new generations.",
