"description": "I wanted to capture the complex emotions that accompany the dissolution of a deep romantic bond. When a relationship ends abruptly, it can leave someone feeling cast adrift, haunted by the vestiges of a partner's presence yet also riddled with their glaring absence. I tried to depict the innate human desire to hold onto what was, even as reality forces one to confront the necessity of releasing the past to make way for an unknown future.\n\nThe imagery of nature, rivers and trees, mirrors the flow of Memory and the endurance of the spirit. Even as the mind strains to comprehend the loss of a cherished companion, the heart still whispers of enduring connection. Love leaves ripples that may carry one's longings far, even if the destination remains unclear.\n\nWriting this poem allowed me to reflect on personal experiences of loves rising, falling, changing. Though painful in the present, releasing another to follow their own path can grant an opportunity for understanding oneself more deeply. Heartbreak yields to new growth when we find the courage to let go. My hope is that readers who have suffered similar losses may find some resonance in these verses. That they may locate their own light to guide them through the darkness, back to a place of wholeness and peace.",
